Scorpion 03:47
Trying to train Dog on a chain Disobedient and Trying again Counting to ten Inconveniently Couldn’t be tamed Applying the blame And you know that all the Push and the pull Is inevitable And there’s nowhere you can run You can always trust a scorpion To paralyze and drown you with the setting sun I’m showing my age I’m showing my hand Show of unity I’m showing the court Appeasing the fans Show me where it hurts I’m stating my case And making demands Show me going into Battle again According to plan Show me how the rest was won You can always trust a scorpion To do exactly everything it’s always done You wouldn’t believe The things you believe In your finest hours Making escapes Erasing the tapes Before the day devours Anything new That’s working for you It’s not just yours it’s ours I’m Jekyll and Hyde Along for the ride It’s my superpower son You can always trust a scorpion To paralyze and drown you with the setting sun You can always trust a scorpion To do exactly everything it’s always done

I wanna be the spanner in your works I wanna be the details where it lurks I wanna be the cautionary tale I wanna be the cough when you inhale I’m your superantihero (the one that you keep rooting for) I’m your superantihero I wanna be the devil in your god I wanna be the perfect in your flawed I wanna be the courage that you lack I wanna be the knife that’s in your back I’m your superantihero (the one that you keep rooting for) I’m your superantihero (keep on coming back for more) I’m your superantihero Pay no attention to the man Behind the curtain if you can Pay no attention to the van That’s parked around the corner Pay no attention, pay no mind You’re in the clear, relax You got your waiver signed I wanna be the feedback in your mix I wanna be the problem you can’t fix I wanna be the truth behind the lie I wanna be the storm around your eye I’m your superantihero (the one that you keep rooting for) I’m your superantihero (keep on coming back for more) I’m your superantihero (by your side forever more) I’m your superantihero (the one that you keep rooting for) I’m your superantihero (keep on coming back for more) I’m your superantihero (by your side forever more) I’m your superantihero

Fill another box in Killing off the checklist Ticking off the self-care Episode I must’ve missed Filling the prescription All the shapes and sizes Every one a fiction Full of compromises Giving me a crime that I can take the blame for Giving me the content That I really came for I got this addiction To my own catastrophe Never hear the end of it Never hear the last of me I’m the villain and victim, the judge and jury Coming down on myself with a righteous fury I’m the villain and victim, the jury and judge Coming down on myself and I’m holding a grudge I’m the villain and victim, the judge and jury Coming down on myself with a righteous fury I’m the villain and victim, the jury and judge Coming down on myself and I’m holding a grudge Now you better get some while you can Better weaponize your plan For the world's most wanted man Pushing me off balance Trying meditation Practicing a talent For exaggeration Cancelling appointments Digging through the rubble Save yourself the disappointment Save yourself the trouble I got this addiction To my own catastrophe Never hear the end of it Never hear the last of me I got this addiction To creating problems And I don’t see any way I’m ever gonna solve em I’m the villain and victim, the judge and jury Coming down on myself with a righteous fury I’m the villain and victim, the jury and judge Coming down on myself and I’m holding a grudge I’m the villain and victim, the judge and jury Coming down on myself with a righteous fury I’m the villain and victim, the jury and judge Coming down on myself and I’m holding a grudge Now you better get some while you can Better weaponize your plan For the world's most wanted man Now you better get some while you can Better weaponize your plan For the world's most wanted man Now you better get some while you can Better weaponize your plan For the world's most wanted man Now you better get some while you can Better weaponize your plan For the world's most wanted man I’m the villain and victim, the judge and jury Coming down on myself with a righteous fury I’m the villain and victim, the jury and judge Coming down on myself and I’m holding a grudge I’m the villain and victim, the judge and jury Coming down on myself with a righteous fury I’m the villain and victim, the jury and judge Coming down on myself and I’m holding a grudge

Sometimes I feel That you don’t exist Sometimes you’re real You disappear in the mist Sometimes I see You’re floating on string Sometimes you’re me It’s kind of our thing They turn out just like I planned ‘em Now there’s nothing to abandon Sometimes I hear Your voice playing tricks Sometimes you’re not here You disappear in my mix Sometimes I touch The face of my god Sometimes you’re too much Sometimes I’m a fraud They turn out just like I planned ‘em Now there’s nothing to abandon They turn out just like I planned ‘em Now there’s nothing to abandon They turn out just like I planned ‘em Now there’s nothing to abandon They turn out just like I planned ‘em Now there’s nothing to abandon

This isn’t a love song To play from a boombox outside your window like Peter Gabriel’s In Your Eyes This isn’t a love song To sing at the Albert Hall with Frank Sinatra’s big band by my side It’s an unavoidable cliche I wish it didn’t have to be that way Because I love you is what I’m trying to say But in a really unique and particular way I wanna go to the top of the pops today And never come back down I wanna make you feel The way you feel when Robbie Williams sings The way you feel when Robbie Williams sings This isn’t a love song Like the one The Police sang in Montreal about Every little thing you do This isn’t a love song Like the one where the world was on fire And nobody could save me but you It’s an unavoidable cliche I wish it didn’t have to be that way Because I love you is what I’m trying to say But in a really unique and particular way I wanna go to the top of the pops today And never come back down I wanna make you feel The way you feel when Robbie Williams sings The way you feel when Robbie Williams sings The way you feel when Robbie Williams sings The way you feel when Robbie Williams sings I don’t want to plagiarize Don’t want to be a bore Don’t want to sing the same old sentiments that somebody sang before My only wish is that this song will help you feel one simple thing The way you feel when Robbie Williams sings The way you feel when Robbie Williams sings The way you feel when Robbie Williams sings

Come on and take a ride on this nostalgia trip Come on and help decide if it’s tragic or it’s hip So mark it in your calendar and write it on your blog: “Today the thieves and pimps run free and the good men die like dogs” Don’t you know who I think I am Don’t you know who I’m supposed to be In another place and time I was a Semi-Celebrity And I’m never gonna be iconic Because all these people are moronic And I’m never gonna get what I am due And I’m gonna say it’s all because of you Don’t you know who I think I am Don’t you know who I’m supposed to be In another place and time I was a Semi-Celebrity And I’m afraid I’m never gonna get my tribute night It’s just as well, you probably wouldn’t get it right And I’m afraid I’m never gonna get my tribute night It’s just as well, you probably wouldn’t get it right Don’t you know who I think I am Don’t you know who I’m supposed to be In another place and time I was a Semi-Celebrity Don’t you know who I think I am Don’t you know who I’m supposed to be In another place and time I was a Semi-Celebrity

about

Drummer & percussionist Adam Staple makes his DIY solo debut with SuperAntiHero - seven beat-forward indie rock songs about inner critics, villains, scorpions and pop stars, dressed up in synths, loops, and fuzzy chorus guitars from 80s new wave and college rock.

Written and recorded during winter 20-21, SuperAntiHero grew out of Staple’s experiences with anxiety and depression, and is his first fully self-produced solo effort.
